When John McPherson talks about back pain or degenerative diseases other scientists and doctors listen. We’ve had a chance to speak to him and his colleague Lloyd Patterson, MD at the annual European Medical Conference in Athens, Greece. John has a degree in medical sciences and just when he retired from the US Army, he was diagnosed with strong axial back pain, sciatica and arthritis. “There were times when I had to stay in a wheel chair all day long. And I wanted to fight those pains to get back up so I can focus on my family and my hobbies.” remembers John when we asked him how he became one of the foremost experts in treatment of back pain and sciatica.
John went on to study the 10 year long extensive research on causes and solutions for back pain, arthritis and osteoporosis conducted in Japan. Meeting with foremost specialist from all fields of industry, he had access to the latest findings that only now surface and is being available to medical professionals worldwide. John is one step ahead. “The future look promising” he says when we ask him on the results of the Japanese research and the study of causes and solutions for the widespread ailments mentioned above.
He adds: “There is only a limited amount of causes for back pain, sciatica and they are pretty common when we compare them to the underlying causes of arthritis and osteoporosis. I am going to share them with you exactly how they are described in the concluding document from the 10 year long Japanese research. I have permission to do that”. John has become an official representative of the Japanese National Medical Research Institute based in Tokyo and he is currently attending a lot of seminars while also teaching new innovative ways to treat the diseases and back injuries to doctors and chiropractors in 4 continents. Here’s what he has to say about the latest research.
Apparent and Underlying Causes of Back Pain, Sciatica, Arthritis
We can exactly list all causes of back pain whether the pain comes from the lower, middle or upper portion of the back. While the apparent cause of back pain seems to be some kind of sports injury, torn ligament, spinal imbalance, stenosis, arthritis (osteo), osteoporosis, disc herniation or pinched nerve (also in sciatica) the underlying cause of all the above mentioned problems and diseases is inflammation. Yes, this is the latest conclusion of the research. Scientist conclude that with the right nutrition it is quite easy to reverse the illnesses and problems.
Inflammation of Bodily Systems – The Real Common Cause
The neuromuscular and skeletal systems in human body get weaker as people age but how is it possible that this only happens in some percentage of the population? The scientists proved the reason is in poor nutrition of those who suffer and in a lack of exercise or movement. Poor nutrition causes inflammation in bones, nerves and in the muscles who in turn become weaker and prone to injury and disease. It is therefore necessary to change the nutritional habits and implement some form of light exercise into a daily regime. “There are certain specific foods and herbal anti-inflammatories that can pretty quickly restore balance in human system. And there are exercises that speed up this process too. We call them static positions and they should be performed using mild progressive isometric tension.” concludes John.
But there is more.
Back Pain and Sciatica Caused by Two Small Muscles
“Ok but how come even young people can get such disease as scoliosis or get their discs herniated? How can younger generation protect from having problems with their backs and become less prone to injuries?” we asked.
While no one can 100% avoid back injury according to John, no injury has to become chronic. The answer lies again in proper nutrition that can heal the torn ligaments, scoliosis or muscle strains. But what about herniated discs and pinched nerves? There are two additional causes that cause back pain and sciatica. It’s weak piriformis muscles and the hip flexors (psios muscles). When these two tiny muscles become weak, the whole skeletal system is thrown off balance causing discs to move out of their natural positions, back muscles work improperly while nerves along the spine or leg are getting pinched between the muscles or discs. And there is only one solution to this. To perform proper strength and flexibility exercises. “Luckily the team has tested which of the exercises are best strengthen and restore the tiny muscles. In addition the psoas and piriformis are really only a tiny layers of muscles that can be easily revitalized and balanced” says Lloyd.
The Back Pain and Hip Flexors Missed By Modern Physicians
The hip flexor is a bilateral muscle that is actually the only one that connect upper and lower body. Contrary to its important function, the muscle is so small and tiny it weakens easily and can be easily thrown off balance causing hip pain, back pain and loss of mobility. It is this muscle that need the most careful focus in rehabilitation. To get this muscle back into shape can easily put a person back into pain-free life with full mobility. Once this muscle is back in shape the person’s center of gravity gets into proper position so the surrounding muscles in glutes, lower and upper back as well as discs are naturally going to be restored into their original positions. “Works like clockwork, we tested it on thousands of volunteers”, adds John.
Sciatica and The Piriformis
So what about the sciatic nerve? Well, contrary to the general opinion the sciatica is caused by weak piriformis. Again a small bilateral muscle, its secondary function is to aid person walking and transfer weight from one leg to another. However the problem lies in its main function, which is the abduction and rotation of the thighs. This movement is very seldom performed so the muscle gets underused and weak. What happens then is similar to the case with the hip flexors. Underused piriformis gets thinner due to catabolic effect and it causes imbalance in the hip area. That moves the sciatic nerve out of its natural position causing it to get pinched somewhere along it length between muscles or near the lower spine. Again it is easily possible to strengthen this muscle and there are simple exercises for that. John has promised to share them.
The Future of Arthritis, Osteoporosis and Back Pain Sufferers
We asked John and Lloyd about the future of treatment of back pain, osteoporosis and arthritis (mainly the osteoarthritis). “There is indeed a natural treatment solution on the way, and it wont take years to come. It in fact already here. In Japan they’re are already treating this ailments with a simple method. People can cure themselves at home.” adds John. But we in the US and in the rest of the world have to wait until all the formalities gets fixed between our medical institutions, all the translations, government approvals and insurance policies. But there is no need to wait until all that happens, because Lloyd and John agreed to share the self-treatment methods with the public immediately.
The Immediate Treatment Solution
John and Lloyd have prepared a small e-book and a newsletter where they are sharing all the details about how anyone can solve their problem almost immediately. From sciatica and back pain to arthritis and osteorporosis, John and Lloyd have compiled everything into a tiny little book as far as they could due to license limitations and they have packed the newsletter with the latest research on all relevant topics. All in all, we’ve had a chance to glean into the articles and the treatment methods and they are surprisingly simple to implement and perform for anyone, regardless of are or medical condition. Both seniors and athletes can benefit from these simple and amazing recommendations.
